Breast Lift
Breast lift Breast tissue sags over the years due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, excessive weight gain and loss, and the effect of gravity. In the meantime, the skin loses its elasticity, which deforms the shape of the breasts. Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) is performed to correct this. If the breast tissue has also shrunk, a breast implant can be placed together with the breast lift surgery.
Pre-Surgery Period
As with other breast surgeries, tell your doctor why you want to have the surgery and what you expect from this surgery. If there is a history of breast disease, cancer, smoking, drug addiction, or another significant disease in your family, state these as well.
Surgery
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in hospital conditions and takes 2-3 hours. Depending on the degree of sagging, scars of various shapes are left. In suitable patients, sagging can also be corrected by placing only a breast implant.
Post-Surgery
Pain is usually not a problem. The bandage is removed on the seventh day, the stitches are removed on the 12th-14th day, and the patient is made to wear a sports bra for 6 weeks. Patients can return to work in 3-4 days.
The surgery is performed with an inverted T-shaped incision extending from the nipple to the inframammary fold and extending to both sides in this fold. The stitches are removed on the 12th – 14th day. There may be a noticeable scar in this incision area after the surgery, but these scars are in an area that can be covered with a bra or bikini.
Mastopexy surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2 hours. It is not necessary to stay in the hospital overnight. The bandage applied immediately after the surgery is removed after 1 week and a support bra is worn. The patient wears this bra day and night for 3 – 4 weeks. Patients can return to their previous activities 1 week after the surgery. It is recommended to stay away from heavy sports for 3 months. Aesthetic breast lift surgery is generally a surgery that provides permanent results, improves the mental health of the person and their partner, and makes them more attached to life. However, weight changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding and gravity can cause new sagging.
Complications of Mastopexy Surgery
The most important complication of this surgery is that there are visible surgical scars. However, these scars are in areas that can be covered with your bra or bikini. In addition, although very rarely, non-symmetrical breasts or nipples may be seen.
