Liposuction

Liposuction surgery; the number of fat cells in the human body is fixed. After puberty, the number of fat cells does not increase, but the volume of fat cells increases. This results in weight gain. Even those who follow a proper diet and exercise to get rid of excess weight may have stubborn fat accumulations that do not disappear. Liposuction is a surgery in which these stubborn fat units in resistant areas of the body are vacuumed and removed from the body. It is definitely not a weight loss surgery, it is a surgery to correct body lines.

The terms liposuction, liposhaping and lipofilling are generally referred to as liposculpturing, i.e. fat tissue sculpting. The liposuction method gives very successful results if the patients are selected correctly.

Which Areas is it Applied to?

  • Face, neck and under-chin area
  • Arms
  • Breasts
  • Abdomen, waist and hips
  • Surgery

The elasticity of the skin of the people who will undergo liposuction surgery should be sufficient so that the skin does not sag when the fat underneath is vacuumed. The surgery should be performed in hospital conditions. It can be performed under general anesthesia, local anesthesia and sedation anesthesia. It takes between 1-2.5 hours depending on the width of the areas to be treated. It is possible to go home the same day after the surgery. At the end of the surgery, a special bandage is applied to the areas where vacuum has been applied and the patient is dressed in a corset.

Post-Operative Period

Patients can usually return to their daily activities 3 days after the surgery. Patients should wear the liposuction corset for 6 weeks. There may be temporary color changes due to bleeding into the skin in the surgical areas. There may also be complaints such as swelling, tingling and burning sensation, which disappear on their own within 3 weeks.

Since a significant portion of the fat cells and fat receptors are removed along with the fats absorbed in the areas where liposuction has been applied, there will be no fat accumulation in these areas as before. It is beneficial to have 10-12 sessions of physical therapy 15 days after the liposuction surgery. Very small scars due to the surgery also become invisible within 2-6 months. A wavy appearance may occur on the treated area after liposuction surgery. To prevent this, you need to follow the physical therapy program as much as you can. Additionally, in older people where skin elasticity has decreased or disappeared, a second surgery may be required to remove excess skin in order to obtain the best results.
