Eyelid Aesthetics

As we age, due to the effect of gravity, there may be sagging in the upper and lower eyelids, and especially in the lower eyelids, bags due to the increase in the volume and herniation of fatty tissues. This condition not only causes a deterioration in appearance, but also prevents the person from seeing as the sagging upper eyelids block the front of the eye.

Excess skin and herniated fatty tissue are removed from the body with aesthetic eyelid surgery. In this way, both a beautiful appearance is achieved and the person is able to see comfortably. Since the eyelids are the areas of the human body with the least scars and the incisions in this surgery are made in areas that match the eyelid folds, the surgical scars are not noticeable at all.

Surgery

Local anesthesia and sedation are preferred. The duration of the surgery is 1.5-2 hours on average. Hospitalization is not necessary.

Post-Surgery Period

There may be swelling and bruising around the eyes. Dryness and a burning sensation may occur in the eyes. Tears may increase, the eyes may be disturbed by light for a while, and the patient may not be able to close their eyes completely in the first days. These are expected events that will resolve themselves within the first week. The stitches are removed on the 4th-5th day. After the stitches are removed, the lower eyelids need to be supported with thin tapes for another week. The patient can do their daily makeup and return to their normal life 1 week after the surgery. The success of the surgery depends on the appropriate amount of fat and excess skin being removed. Because if it is not removed enough, the patient will not be satisfied with the result, and if it is removed too much, problems that cause discomfort to the patient such as eyelid pulls and the eyes remaining open due to the lids not closing completely can occur.
